Lions Close Season With a Win Over Nebraska-Kearney

Box Score The Lindenwood Lions men's basketball team closed its 2012-13 season with an 84-75 win over the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on Friday night in Kearney, Neb. The Lions ended their first season in the MIAA with an overall record of 19-7 and 12-6 in conference play.

Against the Lopers, the Lindenwood offense hit on all cylinders. The Lions shot 62 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc. After trailing at the six minute mark by one to Nebraska-Kearney the Lions would take the lead and never look back.

The Lions led by 13 at the half after scoring the final 17 of 13 points scored. The start of the second half was much of the same for the Lindenwood offense. The visitors lead got as high as 17 points but the Lopers did not go away.

With 6:22 to play in the contest Nebraska-Kearney cut the lead to just one point. But unfortunately for the Lopers they used too much energy to get back within one and couldn't get any closer.

After having their lead cut to one, the Lions closed the contest making six-of-eight free throws to hold on for the win.

Lindnwood had four score in double digits. Richie Thompson and Alex Bazzell both led the way with double-doubles. Thompson scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Bazzell scored 16 points and dished out 10 assists. Cody Sorenson scored 13 and Aaron Ramirez chipped in with 11.
