Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team won its home opener on Tuesday night at Hyland Arena with a sweep over Illinois Springfield. Lindenwood defeated Illinois-Springfield by scores of 25-15, 27-25, and 25-16.
Kayla Guyot led Lindenwood with nine kills and three blocks.
Sarah Makowski and
Aleah Rosenau each had eight kills, and Makowski hit .727 on the night with no errors and 11 attempts.
Emma Brydels had a double-double with team-highs of 33 assists and 15 digs.
Lindenwood finished the match with 13 more kills than Illinois Springfield and the Lady Lions recorded 12 service aces in the match. Both
Allison Waldvogel and
Anna Reichert had four service aces.
After the Prairie Stars were dominated by Lindenwood in the matches' first set, Illinois Springfield took Lindenwood to the edge nearly defeating the Lady Lions in set two. Great teamwork and execution lifted the Lady Lions as they were able to defeat the Prairie Stars in the second set 27-25.
The come-from-behind win sparked the Lady Lions early in the third set as they were able to pull away for a 25-16 in the third and final set.
Lindenwood improves to 1-4 on the season. The Lady Lions will travel to Pueblo, Colorado this weekend where they will play in the CSU-Pueblo ThunderWolves Classic.
