No. 14 Lions Beat Quincy and Improve to 5-0

Box Score The No. 14 Lindenwood men's soccer team continued its hot start on Tuesday night beating the Quincy Hawks 3-2 at Hunters Stadium. The Lions fell behind early but scored three straight goals and then hung on late for the win.

Quincy started the scoring off early in the first when Ethan Venvertloh finished off a perfect pass to give the Hawks the 1-0 lead. The advantage lasted just three minutes. The Lions tied the game when Alfredo Paez scored from just outside the box. Then 11 minutes later, Mauricio Medina scored from almost exactly the same spot to give the home team its first lead.

Lindenwood added to its lead at the 63 minute mark when Axel Duarte scored on a head ball after a corner kick from Alejandro DaSilva. Quincy put some pressure on late scoring a goal in the 87th minute but could not get the equalizer.

Fermin Hughes gave up his first goal in over 300 minutes but still recorded his fourth win of the season.

The Lions improved their record to 5-0 after the win. Up next for Lindenwood is the start of MIAA play when the team travels to Bolivar, Mo. to take on Southwest Baptist on Sept. 20.
