Lions Fall At Central Missouri

Box Score The Lindenwood football team led a shootout with Central Missouri at halftime, but it couldn't keep up in the second half. The Lions fell for the first time this season in a 47-28 setback against the Mules.

The Lions dug themselves in a hole early in the game when the Mules intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown on the game's first possession. Lindenwood's offense clicked after that for the rest of the half as it scored touchdowns on four of its final five possessions.

Dillon Miller had three touchdown passes in that span, with two to Alex Robinson and one to Jordan Gater. The other touchdown came on a run by Marvin Byrd. Lindenwood finished the half with 353 yards of offense, including 246 through the air.

The Mules had three offensive touchdowns in the first half, but missed their PAT attempt twice which gave the Lions a 28-26 halftime lead.

The second half was a different story as the Mules took over the ballgame. Central Missouri scored on three of its first four possessions of the second half, and the fourth in that span was a fumble on Lindenwood's three-yard line. The Lions' offense couldn't keep up with that pace as it couldn't crack the scoreboard in the second half. Lindenwood managed just 179 yards of offense in the half, including 16 on the ground.

Robinson and Jaron Alexander both had career-best games receiving. Alexander caught 16 passes for 149 yards, and Robinson finished with seven catches for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Miller also had a career-high with 390 passing yards and he threw three touchdowns. Byrd was the top rusher with 54 yards.

Defensively, Dillon Hawins had a team-high 12 tackles and Roderick Ryles had 10 stops. Steven Pace had a fumble recovery, as did Jordan Gator on special teams.
