The Lindenwood women's volleyball team defeated the Southwest Baptist Bearcats Tuesday evening at Hyland Arena by scores of 25-18, 28-26, and 25-20. The win gives Lindenwood its first MIAA victory this season.
Aleah Rosenau (11), Shannon Doyle (12), and Kayla Guyot (10) all had 10+ kills in the match. Sarah Makowski (8) and Megan Dillon (7) contributed kills as well. Emma Brydels had over 80% of Lindenwood's assists with 38.
Lindenwood controlled the match's first set and easily cruised to a 25-18 victory. After Lindenwood lead Southwest Baptist 24-18 in the second set the Bearcats clawed their way back as they tied the game 24-24. Lindenwood bent but did not break though. After trading scores a few more times Shannon Doyle spiked the set-winning point to give the Lady Lions the win.
Lindenwood controlled set three leading by as many as 13. Southwest Baptist got hot again as the Lady Lions tried to close out the match. Lindenwood refused to have a repeat of set number two, closing down business with a 25-20 victory.
Lindenwood returns to action playing its last match of a six-game homestand Saturday at 1 p.m. against Missouri Western.
