Women's Volleyball Falls to St. Cloud State And Drury

The Lindenwood women's volleyball team fell twice on day two of the LaQuinta Kickoff Classic in Springfield, Mo. The Lady Lions fell in four sets to both St. Cloud State and Drury.

The Lady Lions lost to St. Cloud State by a 25-17, 17-25, 25-20, and 25-22 margin. Lindenwood had 11 more blocks in the match but lost the other stat categories, including having 19 less kills. In the second match, Lindenwood fell 25-21, 25-18, 23-25, and 25-21 to the host school of the tournament.

Kayla Guyot had a big offensive day for Lindenwood, including having no hitting errors. She finished with 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. She led Lindenwood in the first match with 10 kills and seven blocks, and added six more kills in the second match.

Sarah Makowski had a team-high 19 kills on the day, with nine against St. Cloud State and 10 versus Drury. Emma Brydels had 33 assists and 13 digs in the first match, and 35 assists and 12 digs in the second. Anna Reichert had a team-high 17 digs versus St. Cloud State. In the Drury match, Shannon Doyle and Kristin Burnett each had 16 digs, and Doyle also tied for the team-high with four blocks.

Lindenwood falls to 0-4 on the young season. The Lady Lions will have their home opener on Tuesday night against Illinois-Springfield.
