Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team let a five-point halftime lead slip away and fell to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats 66-61 in Bolivar, Mo.
The first half saw the Lions shoot 43 percent from the field to take a lead into the locker room. Lindenwood started the second half off pushing the lead up to six five minutes in.
The Lions continued to lead until the 8:40 mark when Southwest Baptist tied the score at 48. Over the next three minutes of game time the teams traded baskets back-and-forth.
With the Lions trailing by three with just over four minutes
Logan Jaehnen made a layup and was fouled and tied the game up with a free throw. Unfortunately, for Lindenwood that was the last time the team would be tied.
The Bearcats connected on a layup and a three in back-to-back possessions to take a five-point lead.
Darris Smith hit a three with :56 seconds to play to get within three but that was as close as the team would get.
Garrett Reeg led the team in point and rebounds with 15 and nine respectively. Smith was the only other Lion to score in double figures with 10.
The loss drops Lindenwood to 10-15 overall and 5-10 in MIAA play. The Lions will be back home on Saturday afternoon when they take on the Central Missouri Mules.
