Women's Hockey Drops Home Finale 2-1

Box Score In the final home game of the season, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team was defeated by the Syracuse Orange 2-1 at the Lindenwood Ice Arena.

The two teams battled each other extremely tough throughout the first 20 minutes with the Orange having the edge in shots, but both teams were kept off of the scoreboard. Nicole Hensley faced 21 shots in the period with the Lady Lions only having seven.

Lindenwood made the second period count. After killing off a Syracuse power-play Caitlyn Post put in her fifth goal of the season off a rebound from a Jocelyn Slattery blast. This gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 edge heading into the final 20 minutes of play.

Unfortunately for the home team, Syracuse came out with a strong third period scoring a tip-in goal after a shot from the point to even the score at 1-1. Less than two minutes later, the Orange scored again giving them the lead and eventual win.

Hensley was strong in net once again for Lindenwood stopping 47 of 49 shots and carried a shutout for two periods in the contents. Post and Carrie Atkinson both finished plus-one for the game in defeat.

The Lady Lions travel to Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa. for their final series of the year Feb. 21-22.
