Women's Basketball Looks To Clinch Winning Season On Saturday

Lindenwood Game Notes Lincoln Game Notes

Today's Contest
- Having clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament next month with Wednesday's 79-74 win over Northwest Missouri, the Lady Lions are on the cusp of earning a tournament game at Hyland Arena. Currently, the Lady Lions are 8-9 in conference play, good for seventh place. Seeds 5-8 host first-round games in the tournament. A win today against the Blue Tigers would clinch that home game.

- Lincoln won its first conference game this season with a 67-58 victory over the Lady Lions in Jefferson City Feb. 5. The Blue Tigers won their second MIAA game with a 56-55 victory over Missouri Western Wednesday.

- Four Blue Tigers scored in double figures in the win over Lindenwood. Junior guard Jennifer Rosado led all scorers with 23 points. Rosado is the Blue Tigers leading scorer with 13.5 points per game. Freshman guard Hunter Yoakum is the only other player on the Blue Tigers to average more than 10 points per game with 10.4.

Lindenwood Notes
- The Lady Lions will clinch a winning season with a victory over Lincoln today. They won just four games last season. The Lady Lions have had their share of ups and downs this season as evident by a six-game home winning streak in December and a four-game losing streak to start 2014. They are 3-3 in February.

- Six Lady Lions played the bulk of Wednesday's overtime win against Northwest Missouri. Freshman Kassidy Gengenbacher played 43 minutes. Sophomores Dru Haertling and Jennifer Rocha played in 42 and 40 minutes respectively. It was the Lady Lions' first overtime game since Feb. 21, 2011.

- Senior Caroline Bourlioux tied a career high with 12 rebounds against Northwest Missouri. It was Bourlioux's second double-double this season as she finished with 15 points. Bourlioux's season scoring average is back to 12 points per game and she needs just 24 points to reach 1,000 in her career. That milestone was made easier to reach with the addition of a conference tournament game.

- Freshman Bre Zanders made all five field-goal attempts against Northwest Missouri and scored at least 10 points for the second time this season. She is shooting .521 from the field and the Lady Lions are 3-2 since she was inserted into the starting lineup in the first game against Lincoln. Zanders scored a season-high 12 points against the Blue Tigers.

- After playing in her 100th career game against Central Missouri Feb. 15, senior Marissa Lehnig missed her first game of the season against Northwest Missouri. Lehnig is third on the team in scoring with 10.9 points per game.

- Rocha set a career high with 10 free throws against Northwest Missouri. Rocha turned the ball over nine times, but scored 14 points and had six rebounds and five assists against the Bearcats. Wednesday's game was the 50th of her career. She's the only player on the team to have started all 24 games this season.

- The Lady Lions are second in the MIAA in field goal percentage (.455) and first in three-point percentage (.355).

- After recording her first three-point basket against Central Missouri, freshman Traci Keller blocked her first shot against Northwest Missouri. Keller played in a season-high eight minutes Wednesday.

- The Lady Lions have outscored their opponents 1,773 to 1,715 this season. They've outscored their opponents 805-785 in the first half, 949-916 in the second half, and 19-14 in overtime.

Last Time Out
- Pushed to their first overtime game this season, the Lindenwood women's basketball team responded with a 79-74 win over Northwest Missouri Wednesday in Maryville, Mo.

- Combined with Nebraska-Kearney's 82-68 loss to Emporia State, the Lady Lions clinched a berth in this year's MIAA Tournament. This is the first season the Lady Lions are eligible for NCAA Tournament play.

- Junior guard Morgan Johnson was 1 for 8 from three-point range in regulation, but made two treys in overtime as the Lady Lions outscored the Bearcats 19-14 in the extra period. Johnson is the leading three-point shooter in the MIAA.

- Senior forward Caroline Bourlioux came off the bench to post a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Bourlioux's two free throws with six seconds left in OT helped seal the win.

Lincoln Notes
- The Blue Tigers will try to win their second straight game for just the second time this season today against the Lady Lions. The Blue Tigers are 5-2 all-time against the Lady Lions. After having qualified for the postseason the past two seasons, the Blue Tigers have been eliminated from conference tournament contention.

- Junior guard Jennifer Rosado has scored 10 or more points in 17 of 23 games this season. The Cache, Okla. native has scored at least 20 points five times.

- Sophomore guard Angela Randall leads the Blue Tigers in rebounding (6.0), assists (2.6) and steals (2.0). Randall is third on the team in scoring (9.1 points), and is second in the MIAA in steals with 45.
