Box Score For the second time this month, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team has picked up at least a point against a nationally-ranked conference opponent. On Saturday, the Lady Lions skated to a 2-2 tie with No. 8 Mercyhurst.
Lindenwood never trailed in the game against the Lakers, a conference rival that it has never gotten closer than three goals against. The Lady Lions set the tone in the first period when it outshot Mercyhurst 13-9. Neither team scored in the period though.
The Lakers would outshoot Lindenwood 34-9 the rest of the way, but great goaltending and timely offense helped the Lady Lions get the tie.
Lyndsay Kirkham scored the game's first goal at the 9:23 mark of the second period. The Lady Lions held that lead for just 41 seconds though before Mercyhurst tied it.
In the third period,
Alyssa West put Lindenwood up again midway through the period. Mercyhurst took advantage of its fourth power play to tie the game at the 13:02 mark. Neither team scored for the remainder of the game as
Nicole Hensley finished with 41 saves, including eight in overtime.

Chelsea Witwicke.
Lindenwood begins CHA Tournament play next week with a first-round, best-of-three series at Syracuse. The Lady Lions are 1-3-0 against the Orange this season.
