Box Score The Lindenwood Lions men's basketball team got a dominate performance from its junior point guard
Darris Smith on the way to a 93-73 win over the Missouri Western Griffons. Smith scored 28 points on a perfect 10-for-10 shooting including four-of-four from deep.
The Lions led for all but 7:33 on the afternoon and shot 61 percent from the floor. The game started with the teams staying within one or two points of each other. Then at the 8:38 mark the Lions went on a 12-2 run to take a 10-point lead. The Griffons were able to cut the lead to eight as the first 20 minutes came to a close.
The halftime break did not slow down the Lindenwood offense. The Lions pushed its lead up to 17 in the first 10 minutes of the half. Missouri Western was able to cut the lead to 13 but the Lindenwood offense stayed on fire. The home team shot 66 percent from the field in the final half and rolled to its second win of the season over the Griffons.
To go along with Smith's dominating game
Garrett Reeg recorded his second-straight double-double. Reeg scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Aaron Ramirez finished one rebound short of his own double-double with nine rebounds and 12 points.
Tyler Ressel also scored in double figures with 18 points.
Lindenwood won the rebounding battle 33-27 and forced the Griffons into 10 turnovers. Â
The win improves the Lions to 10-14 overall and 5-9 in MIAA play. Up next for Lindenwood is a road game against Southwest Baptist on Tuesday night.
