Box Score The No. 13 Lindenwood men's soccer team went on the road to take on the Maryville Saints on Wednesday afternoon. It took a late goal by the Lions to tie the score and the contest ended 2-2.
It didn't take the Saints long to get on the scoreboard. Just 14 minutes in, Luke Gilsinger gave Maryville the early 1-0 lead. The rest of the first half neither team could put a ball in the back of the net.
Twenty minutes into the second half Lindenwood finally tied the score.
Mitchell Hunt scored his first goal of the season to tie the game.
With just six minutes to go in the game, Maryville scored to take a 2-1 lead. With the late goal it looked like the Saints were going to pull a big upset. But Lindenwood's Alejandro Da Silva had different ideas. Silva snuck one by Maryville's goalie with just three minutes to play which tied the game.
For two overtimes neither team was able to break the tie and the game ended 2-2.
After the tie the Lions ran their record to 1-0-2. Up next for Lindenwood is a road game against Christian Brothers on Sept. 13. Â Â Â
