Women's Volleyball Ends Steel and Silver Classic With A Win

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ?The Lindenwood women's volleyball team played a pair of three-set matches on Saturday at the Steel and Silver Classic in Colorado. The Lady Lions lost to Colorado State-Pueblo and defeated Alaska Fairbanks.
 
In the opener in Pueblo, Colo., the Lady Lions fell by scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-22.
 
Shannon Doyle and Kayla Guyot both had double-figure points. Doyle finished with 15.0 after having a team-high 12 kills to go along with an ace and four block assists. Kayla Guyot had 13.0 points with eight kills, one service ace, two solo blocks, and four block assists. Guyot was also the team's most productive hitter with a .353 hitting percentage.
 
In the second match, Lindenwood defeated Alaska Fairbanks in Colorado Springs, Colo. by scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-17. The Lady Lions offense came alive in the match as they hit .364, their highest mark so far in 2014.
 
Sarah Makowski led the way with 11 kills and a .389 hitting percentage. She also tied with Paige Straatman with five block assists. Ivy Reynolds had 31 assists and Anna Reichert hit double-figure in digs with 10.

Makowski was named to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the tournament.
 
Lindenwood ended its non-conference portion of its schedule with today's matches. The Lady Lions begin MIAA play next Tuesday at Northwest Missouri.
