Women's Volleyball Loses Conference Opener

Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team dropped its MIAA opener on Tuesday night in Maryville, Mo. The Lady Lions fell to Northwest Missouri by scores of 18-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-16, and 15-13.
 
Lindenwood came out on fire offensively as it hit .393 for the first two sets, both of which it won by seven points. Unfortunately, the offense cooled off which allowed Northwest Missouri to get back into the match and force a fifth set.
 
In the fifth set, Northwest Missouri jumped out to a 7-2 lead. Lindenwood fought back to get within one point three different times, but the Bearcats finally converted match point on their third attempt.
 
Lindenwood hit .201 for the match, compared to .184 for Northwest Missouri. The Bearcats had 12 more points thanks to six more kills, two more service aces, and four more blocks.
 
Shannon Doyle led Lindenwood with 17 kills, and she hit .273 for the match. Jessica Krygsheld was also in double-figures with 11 kills. Both Krygsheld and Doyle had double-doubles as well with double-figure digs, including a team-high 17 for Krygsheld. Ivy Reynolds had an assist/dig double-double with 42 assists and 11 digs, and Anna Reichert finished with 10 digs. Sarah Makowski had a team-high four blocks, including two solo blocks.
 
Lindenwood falls to 3-6 on the season. The Lady Lions have their home opener on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Hyland Arena against Pittsburg State.
