The Lions committed numerous mistakes throughout the night which ultimately cost them a victory. Among them were four turnovers and 121 penalty yards.

The first quarter was a defensive battle as both teams punted the ball four times. In the second quarter, the Tigers took the lead because of two Lindenwood interceptions. On third down, the Lions threw an interception in the endzone to keep them off the scoreboard at halftime.

The second half started out promising for Lindenwood. The defense forced a three-and-out, and Lindenwood put together a seven-play scoring drive. The big play was a 43-yard pass from Dillon Miller to Jaron Alexander. Two plays later, Miller found Alex Robinson for a three-yard touchdown reception.

Fort Hays State quickly regained control of the game. The Tigers rushed five times for 81 yards on their next drive, including a 40-yard touchdown run. Lindenwood then fumbled the kickoff and the Tigers quickly added a field goal. Those 10 points in 50 seconds put Fort Hays State up 17-7.
