Box Score The Lindenwood men's soccer team won a thrilling overtime game on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles against Upper Iowa. The Lions scored with just over a minute to play in the first overtime which gave them the 2-1 win.
Upper Iowa scored the first goal of the game in the 37
th minute and that would be the only goal of the first half. Lindenwood got the equalizer in the 58
th minute when
Andre Hayne scored his third goal of the season.
The game headed into overtime and both teams had early opportunities to end it but both team's goalies were up to the task. With just over a minute to play in extra time Steven Hutchinson played a perfect ball to
Mitchell Hunt who then made a move around the goalie and scored the game-winning goal.
Jonathan Newkirk started in net for Lindenwood and stopped three-of-four shots he faced.
With the win the Lions improve their record to 3-3-2 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play. Up next for LIndenwood is a home game against Truman on Tuesday night.
