Box Score The No. 7 Lindenwood Lions soccer team earned its first win of the season on Sunday night in Rolla, Mo. The Lions beat Missouri S&T 2-1 in overtime in the final game of the MIAA-GLVC Crossover.
Lindenwood started the scoring off in the 24
th minute when
Andre Hayne scored his second goal of the season after the Miners turned the ball over in their own box.
There wouldn't be any more scoring in regulation until the final moments. Missouri S&T had a free kick deep in the Lions half of the field with under a minute to play. The Miners would capitalize on the chance and tie the game with just 54 seconds left to play in regulation.
After giving up the lead late the Lions did not let it affect them. Nine minutes into the first overtime,
Alfredo Paez scored to give Lindenwood the win.
Hayne led the Lions with a goal and a helper.
Andrew Hamerlinck started in goal and earned the win.
With the win Lindenwood improves its record to 1-0-1. The Lions will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon with a road game against Maryville.
