Box Score Lindenwood's women's basketball team fell in a home game to Missouri Southern State, 79-70. The loss moves the Lady Lions record to 7-7 and 1-7 in MIAA play.
The Lady Lions started out slow, but quickly turned things around. Missouri Southern jumped out to a quick lead, but Lindenwood answered and led up until Missouri Southern scored just before halftime to give them a 32-30 lead going into the break. Lindenwood was led by
Kassidy Gengenbacher with eight points.
Bre Zanders had more rebounds than anyone in the first half with six. The Lady Lions shot 41.4% from the field, while they held Missouri Southern to 28.6%
The tide changed in the second half. Lindenwood shot only 35% from the field, while Missouri Southern shot 68.2%. Gengenbacher and
Jenny Rocha kept Lindenwood in the game, but their efforts weren't enough as Missouri Southern pulled away for a 79-70 loss for Lindenwood.
Gengenbacher led Lindenwood in scoring with 21. Rocha was 6-10 from the field, on her way to scoring 16 points.
Vanessa Zailo led Lindenwood in rebounds, with ten, eight coming in the second half. Lindenwood ended up being outshot 43.9% to 37.9%.
Lindenwood hopes to get another non-conference win this weekend, when Robert Morris University-Springfield comes to Hyland Arena.
