Lady Lions Dominate Robert Morris-Springfield in 97-44 Win

The Lady Lions flexed their muscle Saturday in Hyland Arena when they beat non-conference opponent Robert Morris University-Springfield, 97-44. The win moves Lindenwood's record to 8-7.

This is the first time this season the Lady Lions have scored 90 or more points. 97 points is the highest total since last year when they played Robert Morris-Springfield in St. Charles and scored 106.
 
Lindenwood relied on heavy contributions from Kassidy Gengenbacher, who scored 24 points, by going eight-of-11 from the field and five-of-six from beyond the arc. Beth Maenpaa was eight-of-10 from the floor, scoring 16. Jenny Rocha had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. She was just short of a triple-double, finishing with eight assists on the game.
 
Lindenwood dominated from the tip off. The Lady Lions went 21-of-35 shooting in the first half, shooting 60 percent from the field and 55 percent from three-point range. Gengenbacher went four-of-four from 3 and six-of-eight from the field, giving her 16 points in the first half. Maenpaa scored 14 in the first half. Rocha had six points and seven assists before the intermission. Vanessa Zailo had six rebounds in the first half. Lindenwood held RMU to 32.4 percent shooting in the first half. The score was 51-30 at half.
 
The Lady Lions didn't let up in the second half. Lindenwood shot 51.4 percent from the field, and it held Robert Morris-Springfield to 18.8 percent from the field. Rocha led second-half scorers with nine and had eight rebounds. The Lady Lions outscored the Eagles 46-14 in the second half.
 
The Lady Lions get back to MIAA play next Thursday, when they travel to Bolivar, Mo. to play Southwest Baptist.
