Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team had its nine-game winning streak snapped in Maryville, Mo. against the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats. The Bearcats shot 55 percent from the field and beat the Lions 74-61.
The contest started quickly for both teams. Both teams made their first four shots each and that type of shooting continued. Northwest Missouri ended the opening half shooting 60 percent from the field and the Lions trailed 39-27.
Things started quickly in the second half for the home team. The Bearcats continued their hot shooting and used a 17-5 run to push their lead to up as high as 17.
Late in the second half the Lions tried to claw their way back into the game but could not get over the hump. Lindenwood got within nine and one point in time but that was as close as the Lions could get.
Northwest Missouri shot 55 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the three-point line. Lindenwood shot the ball well but it wasn't enough. The Lions hit 51 percent of their shots from the field and 54 from behind the three point line.
Cory Arentsen led the way for Lindenwood with 23 points.
Sam Mader also scored in double figures with 16 while
Darris Smith chipped in with 10.
The loss drops the Lions to 13-7 overall and 8-3 in MIAA play. Up next for Lindenwood is a home game Saturday afternoon against Missouri Western.
