The No. 10 Lindenwood wrestling team won its first MIAA dual of the season over No. 19 Fort Hays State 17-16 in Hays, Kan. on Sunday afternoon.
The dual stated with Noah Kilip of Fort Hays beating
Kyle Webb via a 9-5 decision in the 141 pound weight class. The win gave the Tigers a 3-0 lead to start off the day. Lindenwood came right back when
Terrel Wilbourn dominated and won with a technical fall which was good for five points.
Fort Hays then won the 157 pound match when Bradley Little beat
Derrick Weller. Just like the previous matches it was time for a Lindenwood win and that is exactly what happened.
Kyle Jolas of Lindenwood beat Byce Lewis in a 7-2 decision.
The next two matches saw the Tigers win and take a 13-8 lead with four matches left.
Kenny Breaux of Lindenwood did his part to get the Lions back in the lead. He beat Cash Drylie via an 8-3 decision to get within two points.
Fort Hays then looked like they were going to take charge again when Jack Page won at 285 to give the Tigers the five-point advantage back.
With just two matches left the Lions would have to win both. It started with Marcos Rios-Tamayo winning a 3-2 decision at 125lb.
It all came down to
Hunter Haralson in the 133 pound match. Haralson won a thrilling 1-0 decision over Garrett Jones to help propel the Lions to the dual victory.
