Men's Basketball Dominates Emporia State From the Opening Tip

Box Score The Lindenwood men's basketball team won its fourth straight MIAA game on Monday when the Lions dismantled the Emporia State Hornets 67-49 in Emporia, Kan.

The only time the Lions trailed in the whole contest was when the Hornets scored the first basket of the game. It only took Lindenwood 11 minutes to push its lead up to 14. The Lions added to the lead in the final 1:32 with an 8-0 run to lead by 27 at the half.

The second half was much of the same for the Lions. Lindenwood continued to lead and the closest the Hornets would ever get was 11.

For the fourth straight game, the Lions would shoot over 50 percent. The visitors shot 51 percent from the field and 57 percent from behind the three-point line. On the contrary, the Hornets shot just 37 percent from the field and 29 percent from deep.

Darris Smith led the way in the scoring with 22 points. Cory Arentsen stuffed the stat sheet with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.

The win improved the Lions to 8-6 overall and 4-2 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will be back home on Thursday against the Fort Hays State Tigers.
