Women's Hockey Travels to Take on Mercyhurst

Series Notes
- The Lindenwood women's hockey team continues its 2015-16 season this Friday and Saturday against CHA opponent, the Mercyhurst Lakers. Puck drop is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday from Mercyhurst Ice Center in Erie, Pa.

- The Lady Lions are coming off of a 0-1-1 weekend series vs. the Syracuse Orange on November 6 and 7. After dropping the opening game on Friday night by a final score of 3-1, the Lady Lions found themselves trailing for much of the game on Saturday afternoon. However, a goal from Shannon Morris-Reade with 2:21 remaining in the third period sent the game to overtime, resulting in a 1-1 tie.

- A season ago the two teams met four times within CHA play. Mercyhurst won the season series 3-1-0, outscoring the Lady Lions 19-8 during the four games. The Lindenwood victory was in Wentzille, Mo. on February 20 as the Lady Lions defeated Mercyhurst 3-1, marking the first victory over the Lakers in program history. The Lakers lead the all-time series 14-1-1 dating back to October of 2011.

- Mercyhurst enters the weekend series with a record of 3-5-2, and are 3-0-1 from within the CHA. Last weekend, the Lakers went 1-0-1 vs. Penn State. Over the two game stretch, goaltender Sarah McDonnell allowed just goal while turning in 48 saves. In recognition of her performance, McDonnell was named CHA Goalie of the Week. 

Lindenwood Notes
- Through 10 games, the Lady Lions currently have seven skaters who have an even or positive plus-minus rating. Shara Jasper leads the way for Lindenwood with a +9 rating.

-The Lady Lions are currently winning 42.7 percent of their faceoffs this season, up from the 40.8 percent mark they ended their season with in 2014-15. Currently, Corbin Welsh leads the team in draws won with 61, winning 48.8 percent of the time.

-A season ago, the Lindenwood penalty-kill unit wrapped up the season killing off 74.8 percent of their penalties against. The 2015-16 squad has improved upon that number, killing off eight straight penalties and currently operating at an 81.6 percent success rate.

-Shannon Morris-Reade notched the first game-tying goal of her career on Saturday afternoon vs. Syracuse, scoring with 2:21 remaining in the third period. For Morris-Reade, the goal was her fourth of the season, ranking second on the team.

-This past weekend against Syracuse, the Lady Lions shared the goaltending duties between freshman Jolene deBruyn and the reigning CHA Goalie of the Week Nicole Hensley. deBruyn started between the pipes on November 6 making 32 saves, improving her GAA to 2.68. Hensley got the call to start on November 7, making 39 saves while lowering her GAA to 2.53.

-The Lady Lions have blocked a total of 142 shots this season, and have 10 skaters who have blocked double figure shots. Tae Otte is the team leader with 22 blocked shots, recording a season-high of four on three seperate occasions this year. The next highest total comes from Carrie Atkinson, who has blocked a total of 20 shots.

- The Lady Lions will return to the ice on Nov. 20th and 22nd when they travel to Madison, Wis. to take on nationally ranked non-conference opponent, No.1 Wisconsin Badgers. The Badgers currently have a record of 10-0-0 and have not allowed a goal in over eight consecutive games dating back to October 3rd.
