Missouri-St. Louis scored the final six points of the game on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo. as the Tritons handed Lindenwood men's basketball its first loss of the season by a 67-62 score.

Lindenwood took a 62-61 lead on a three-pointer by
Brad Newman with 2:22 left in the game, and forced a turnover on the Tritons' next possession. The Lions couldn't convert a shot on the other end though and Missouri-St. Louis retook the lead on a layup. Lindenwood's next shot attempt was blocked, and the Tritons scored again to go up 65-62. The Lions had one more chance to tie, but their final three-point attempt was off the mark.

The Lions led for much of the second half, but could never grab more than a five-point advantage. That lead to the close finish, as the lead switched hands seven times over the last six minutes.

The Lions struggled offensively in the first half, but its defense kept them in the game. Missouri-St. Louis made three of its four field-goal attempts to go up 7-0, but Lindenwood held the Tritons under 30 percent shooting for the rest of the half. The Lions chipped away at the lead and tied the game twice, including on a layup by
Stanislas Heili with just a few seconds left in the half which tied the game at 26.

Lindenwood had its worst shooting day of the young season, hitting just 35.6 percent of its shots, including 28.6 percent from three-point range. Missouri-St. Louis shot just 40.7 percent from the field, but was nine-of-18 from beyond the arc.

Cory Arentsen had a double-double for the Lions with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and he also led the team with four assists.
Brad Newman finished with 17 points, and
Nick Van Osdale had a season-high nine.
Stanislas Heili had a team-high 15 rebounds and four blocks.

Lindenwood falls to 3-1 on the season. The Lions are in action again on Tuesday night at Illinois-Springfield.
