Gengenbacher Drops 30, Lady Lions fall 83-68

The Lindenwood women's basketball team lost 83-68 to Central Oklahoma on Monday night in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

The first quarter was a face paced as Kassidy Gengenbacher put up the first eight points for the Lady Lions.  Gengenbacher was 3-for-3 from the field including two three-pointers.  Jenny Rocha tallied the next six points, but the Bronchos battled back to take a 20-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Central Oklahoma started the second quarter with six consecutive points to cap off a 9-0 run.  Gengenbacher nailed a three-pointer to halt the run, but the Bronchos held a consistent lead for the remainder of the quarter.  The Lady Lions were outscored 14-4 in the pain and allowed nine points from the Bronchos bench.  In the first half, Vanessa Zailo grabbed nine rebounds, while Gengenbacher put up 14 points.

Lindenwood began the second half down 39-30 and Central Oklahoma extended its lead immediately.  Zailo hit two free throws to bring Lindenwood within 11 points, but the Bronchos went on another run.  The Lady Lions found themselves down 19 after a quick 8-0 run for the Bronchos.  Lindenwood ended the third quarter on an 8-0 to pull within 13 points.

Gengenbacher drained a three-pointer just five seconds into the final quarter to make it a 10-point game.  The Bronchos kept scoring in spurts to keep the Lady Lions from chipping into the double-digit deficit.  The Lady Lions could not get a solid stretch of points and fell 83-68 to Central Oklahoma.
