Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Drops Final Game of the Season

The Lindenwood Lady Lions basketball team dropped its final game of the 2014-15 season 68-63 to the Missouri Southern Lions in Joplin, Mo.

Lindenwood fell behind early in the contest and trailed by as many as 11 in the opening half. The Lady Lions were able to cut their deficit down to eight heading in the halftime break.

The second half started out great for the visitors. Lindenwood started the final half on a 14-2 run to take its first lead of the game. The Lady Lions were able to push its lead up to four with just over 10 minutes to play.

Unfortunately, for Lindenwood that would be the last time the team would see the lead. Missouri Southern would make its next six field goal attempts to turn a four-point deficit into a seven-point lead.

The Lady Lions shot 45 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the arc. Lindenwood was led by Jenny Rocha and Kassidy Gengenbacher who scored 14 points each. Vanessa Zailo recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Kyle Ferguson came off the bench and scored 12 points.

The loss ends the season for the Lady Lions with an overall record of 11-15 and a MIAA mark of 4-15. Lindenwood will now have to wait and see if the team will qualify for the conference tournament.
