Men’s Lacrosse Enters Record Books With 29-1 Victory Over Fontbonne

Lindenwood's men's lacrosse team hosted the Fontbonne University Griffins and Lindenwood took charge as soon as the game started. Lindenwood would end up scoring 29 goals, and only allowed Fontbonne to score one. 29 goals is tied with several teams for the ninth highest total in NCAA history. Josh Coons led all scorers with four goals.

Lindenwood kept Fontbonne's goalie busy from the first face-off. Lindenwood got off 19 shots in the first quarter, without allowing Fontbonne to shoot a single time. The Lions won seven-of-eight face-offs in the opening period. The Lions were already up 8-0 at the end of the first period.

The second period was more of the same, with Lindenwood scoring ten goals in the second quarter. The Lions went into halftime with an 18-0 lead. Coons, Kevin Eskridge, and Andrew Szczepan all had two goals in the first half. Lindenwood dominated in grounballs and held a 26-3 advantage at halftime.

Things didn't get much better for Fontbonne in the second half, with Lindenwood firing another seven goals in the net during the third quarter. Fontbonne started the fourth quarter with its first goal of the game. Joe Roy got Lindenwood back on track with a goal of his own. The Lions scored three more to make their way into the record books.

The Lions are carrying a three-game winning streak currently. Lindenwood hopes to keep this momentum when they travel to Phillipi, W. Va. for its first ECAC game of the year against Alderson Broaddus University.
