The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team had the highest scoring game in program history in its home opener on Friday afternoon at Hunter Stadium. The No. 3 Lady Lions defeated No. 18 Indiana of Pennsylvania by a 23-13 margin.

The 23 goals by the Lady Lions were just one shy of the school record for goals in a single-game, and the two teams combined for 36 goals, one more than the previous mark. The majority of goals came in the second half when Lindenwood pulled away by outscoring the Crimson Hawks by a 15-8 margin.

Melissa Menchella tied a school record with seven goals, including the game-winning score. She also added three assists to become the third Lady Lion with double-figure points in a contest. Menchella was balanced with her goals with three in the first half and four in the second half.

Jordyn Constance, who just ended her hockey season six days ago, had a big lacrosse start with four goals and three assists.
Sophie Buelow,
Amanda Schimpke, and
Cassie Stucklen all had three goals.
Lindsey Palmer led the Lady Lions with four assists, and she finished with six points.

Rachel Ortell earned the win in goal, making two saves in the game. Menchella led the team with four groundballs, and Buelow had a team-high two caused turnovers.

Lindenwood improves to 2-0 on the season. The Lady Lions resume conference action on Sunday afternoon with a home game against Colorado State-Pueblo.
