The Lindenwood baseball team fell 10-6 on Monday afternoon to Missouri Southern.
The Lions fell behind 7-0 after the first three innings of play. In the fourth inning
Ryan Light hit an RBI double to left field to score
Michael Bibbs and
Mike Ehrhard scored on a
Wade Rothermich sacrifice fly. Lindenwood surrendered a run in the bottom of the inning, but had life after four innings and down by six.
Ehrhard again sparked the Lindenwood offense with a two-out single to left center. Light followed with a double to right center and advanced to third base on a fielding error and allowed Ehrhard to score. Rothermich hit a valuable homerun to right field to bring the Lions within three. Lindenwood added another run in the seventh inning on a wild pitch that brought in
Zac Perkins.Â
Missouri Southern had an 8-6 lead and added two more in the bottom of the seventh to sweep the Lions with a 10-6 victory. Light lead the Lions offense with seven hits and two doubles this weekend. Rothermich only had two hits in the four-game series, but had one homerun and one triple along with four RBI.
With the weekday loss the Lions fall to 5-10 overall and 0-4 in the MIAA. The Lions will travel to Rolla, Mo. to take on Missouri S&T for a doubleheader starting at noon on Tuesday.
