Colin Hackworth surpassed 1,000 career kills during Saturday's match at Hyland Arena, but he couldn't get the Lindenwood men's volleyball team to overcome No. 5 Loyola Chicago in a 3-0 Lions loss. The defending NCAA Champions won by scores of 25-22, 25-23, and 26-24.
Hackworth became the sixth Lindenwood player in program with 1,000 kills when he recorded a kill late in the first set. He finished with a team-high 14 kills and 15.5 points in his final match at Hyland Arena. Hackworth was one of seven seniors honored before the final regular season home match. The others were
Zach Bequette,
Thomas Cruz,
Logan Jarus,
Ted Kleffner,
Connor Metcalfe, and
Kyle Overby.
Overby finished second on the team with seven kills, and
Jake Duckworth had five kills, two service aces, and two blocks. Jarus and Bequette also had two blocks apiece, and Metcalfe led the team with 30 assists and nine digs.
Lindenwood falls to 11-11 on the year and 6-9 in MIVA play. The Lions end the regular season next Friday at Quincy.
