Lindenwood's tennis teams hosted Lewis University for a men's and women's dual on Sunday, with Lindenwood's women's team falling 5-4 and men's team losing 6-3. Combined, both tennis teams went 4-3 in doubles, but couldn't manage to come away with the necessary singles wins to get a victory.
Although the women's team eventually lost, the Lady Lions came out strong.
Alexandra Medvedeva started out with a 6-4, 6-2 win, followed by
Diana Castro winning 6-2, 6-0,
Mariona Pinol kept the winning streak alive, winning 6-2, 6-4. Castro and Medvedeva would team up in the doubles to give the Lady Lions their only doubles victory of the day, winning convincingly 8-1. In the end, the Lady Lions lost 5-4.
The men would battle, but would lose 6-3. The only winner for the men in the singles was
Slobodan Bavrlic. Bavrilic would carry on that momentum into his doubles match, where he paired with
Anvar Akhmetov to win 9-7.
Filip Bogic and
Naoufal El Idrissi would give Lindenwood its last victory of the day, with an 8-5 win.
The losses move the men's record to 4-10 and the women's to 4-12. The next dual for the men will be a home dual against UMSL on April 15th. The women will be traveling to Jefferson City on April 14th to play Lincoln University.
