The Lindenwood baseball team lost its final game of the four-game series with Nebraska Kearney on Monday by a 9-7 margin.
The Lions jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning on a
Drew Quinones three run home run. Nebraska Kearney responded with a run in the second and two in the third to tie the game up at 3-3.Â
Michael Bibbs led off the fourth inning with a single and
Branden Sugar hit a two run blast to put the Lions back out in front.Â
Paul Sherwood singled to right field and later scored in the inning giving Lindenwood a 6-3 lead.
The Lopers put up two runs in the bottom of the fourth to pull within one. In the top of the fifth the Lions scored just one run to take a 7-5 lead but the Lopers were knocking on the door. Nebraska Kearney tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run home run to make it a 7-7 game. The Lions surrendered two more runs in the bottom of the sixth as the Lopers took their first lead of the game at 9-7. Lindenwood did not find any more runs in the game and fell 9-7 to complete the series in Kearney, Neb.
The loss sets Lindenwood at 22-22 on the year and fall to 13-15 in league play. The Lions will finish their final five games at home with the next game against Harris Stowe State will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
