The Lindenwood softball team ended its 2015 season on Saturday afternoon in Warrensburg, Mo. The Lady Lions dropped both games of the doubleheader to the Central Missouri Jennies 2-1 and 7-2.
Game one of the day was a game dominated by each team's starting pitcher. The two teams combined for just three runs and 10 hits. The first four innings were filled with goose eggs for both teams until the Lady Lions struck first in the fifth.
Diedre Merli led the inning off with a single and then two hitters later Maddy Huot doubled into center field to give the visitors the lead 1-0. The lead for Lindenwood lasted just one inning. In the bottom of the sixth, Lex Leonhart hit a two-run home run to give the home team the lead 2-1. The Jennies held on for the win after setting down the Lady Lions in the top of the seventh.
Merli led the team on offense with two hits and one run scored.
Kendall Ryndak started in the circle for Lindenwood and pitched six innings surrendering just two runs on five hits while striking out five.
Things started off quickly for Central Missouri in game two. The Jennies scored single tallies in the first and second innings. Lindenwood cut the lead in half in the third but the home team broke things open in the fifth with five runs.
Madeline Bohr led the offense with two hits and a RBI while
Kourtney Bunselmeyer hit her first home run of the season.
The Lady Lions end the 2015 season with a record of 17-35 and a 6-20 mark in the MIAA.
