Lindenwood's tennis teams ended their Spring Break road trip on Saturday, when they played Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo. Both of Lindenwood's teams came away with a loss. The men lost 6-3, while the women lost 7-2.
Getting wins for the men were
Yoshikazu Ysa, who won the first set 6-4, before falling in the second set, 4-6, but recovered by winning the third set.
Nicholas Bruenger was the second Lion to record a win, winning both sets going 6-2, 6-4. Anvar Akhemtov also won in two sets going 6-3, 6-3. These wins weren't enough for Lindenwood, as Southwest Baptist won 6-3. The loss moves the men's record to 4-9.
Providing victories for the women were
Clara Piccamiglio and
Diana Castro. Piccamiglio won her match after her opponent retired after Piccamiglio had her at 4-4 in the second set. Castro won the first set, but lost the second set, before scoring a Lindenwood victory in the third set. The two victories couldn't give Lindenwood a victory, the Lady Lions lost 7-2. The loss moves the women's record to 3-11.
Coming up for the women's tennis team is a dual against Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. on April 7th. The men will have an extra day to prepare for a dual at Truman State on April 8th.
