The Lindenwood baseball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon in Emporia, Kan. The Lions lost game three of the best-of-three series with Emporia State by a 9-6 score.
Lindenwood outhit Emporia State 11-8 in the game, but the Lions walked six batters, hit one, and made two errors. The Lions trailed just 3-2 halfway through the game, but the Hornets put six runs together in the fifth through seventh inning to pull away.
The Lions top three hitters did most of the damage on the day, as they combined for seven hits, three runs, and five RBIs.
Wes Degener drove in three runners and scored once,
Nathan Prindle had two runs, and
Wade Rothermich drove in two runners. Prindle had two triples and a double, and Degener had a home run.
Braden Sugar and
Zac Perkins each had two hits for Lindenwood, and Perkins scored twice and Sugar cross home plate once in the game.
Lindenwood ends the season with a 27-25 overall record. The Lions made the MIAA Tournament for the first time in program history and won one game in the first-round series.
