Box Score The Lindenwood men's soccer team opened the 2015 season on Saturday, September 5th with a 4-2 victory over No. 23 Drury University in the first game of the Quincy Soccer Bowl in Quincy, Ill.
The Lions wasted little time in tallying their first goal of the season, as
Stefan Andric received a pass from
Jeremy Tutas and buried it past the Drury goalkeeper for an early 1-0 advantage just 140 seconds into the game. Less than 20 minutes later, Andric had the assist on the Lions second goal, as
Andre Hayne drilled a rebound into the back of the net. The Lions would hold the 2-0 edge into halftime.
In the second half, at the 55:48 mark, a
Nijaz Muratovic lead-pass set up Hayne for his second goal of the afternoon and a 3-0 Lindenwood lead.
Adam Pohlman scored in the games 75th minute for the Lions with the assist being credited to
Alfredo Paez. In goal for the Lions,
Andrew Hamerlinck recorded four saves, while allowing two goals in the victory.
In the end, Lindenwood had the advantage in saves (4-1). Drury held the edge in shots (18-15), shots on goal (6-5) and corner kicks (6-0).
With the win, the Lions improve their record to 1-0-0 on the season. Lindenwood returns to action on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. when they face Quincy University.
