Box Score The Lindenwood women's volleyball team wrapped up its second consecutive sweep this week with the 3-0 defeat of Missouri Southern Saturday afternoon in Joplin, Mo.
The Lady Lions edged out the host Lions, 25-23, in the opening set. Lindenwood won the first four points with kills from
Jessica Krygsheld,
Alex Dahlstrom, and
Alex Bogusz on assists from
Allyson Clancy. Missouri Southern went on a 12-6 run after the early Lindenwood lead, but a kill by Dahlstrom at 22-20 would be the deciding point as the Lady Lions would not look back.
Lindenwood took advantage of the momentum to defeat Missouri Southern in the second set, 25-9. The Lady Lions rattled off the first four points of the set again, but this time would not relinquish the lead. Bogusz added a pair of service aces to keep the control, and
Sarah Makowski joined in with a kill.
The visitors would not look back in the third set, winning 25-15 in the final frame. The Lady Lions forced Missouri Southern to commit errors throughout the set, while Clancy almost reached 30 assists for the the second-straight night as she gave out 29 dimes.
Bogusz and
Shannon Doyle led the way with eight kills on the afternoon, while Krygshelf and Dahlstrom had seven and six, respectively. Doyle also hit .375 to lead all attackers with double-digit attempts. Bogusz hit .294 in the match.
The win improves the Lady Lions to 8-11 on the season, with a 4-5 mark in the MIAA. Lindenwood will take a three-match winning streak into the Fort Hays State contest next Thursday from Hyland Arena beginning at 5 p.m.Â
