The Lindenwood women's volleyball team defeated Missouri Western 3-1 on Saturday night in Hyland Arena to help earn head coach
Ron Young his 700th career victory as head coach of both the men's and women's programs.

Young tallied 342 wins as the head man of the men's program and just earned his 358th victory as the women's head coach. Lindenwood defeated Missouri Western by scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-16 after falling in the first set 25-19. The Lady Lions wore pink uniforms in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

The first set was a back-and-forth type of play as the opening set saw a tie score 13 times. Both teams hit the ball well with the Griffons hitting .485 while the Lady Lions registered a .303 hitting percentage.Â
Jessica Krygsheld tallied six kills and two digs and
Alex Dahlstrom registered three kills. Lindenwood fell in the first set 25-19, but regrouped for the second set.

The Lady Lions had a strong defensive showing in the second set with four blocks by
Alex Bogusz and three blocks by
Shannon Doyle. Krygsheld again led the squad in kills, this time with four. Doyle and
Bailey Dvorak each posted three kills to help the Lady Lions to a 25-23 win to even the match.

After the break, Lindenwood picked up the pace with a .267 hitting percentage that was led by Dahlstrom and Krygsheld who each tallied five kills.Â
Sarah Makowski helped patrol the net with two blocks while
Allyson Clancy compiled 14 assists and one service ace.

Lindenwood closed out the night with a commanding 25-16 win over the Griffons to take the match 3-1. Krygsheld compiled 18 kills, 16 digs, and one blocks, while hitting .286. Doyle posted 12 kills, five blocks and hit .429 on the night. Bogusz had a balanced match with seven kills, one service ace, two digs, and six blocks. The Lady Lions hit .259 as a team to help Young to the milestone victory.

Lindenwood improves to 6-11 on the season and 2-4 in the MIAA. The Lady Lions will travel to Bolivar, Mo. on Friday to take on Southwest Baptist at 7 p.m.
