The No. 12 ranked Lindenwood men's soccer team fell to the No. 21 Fort Hays State Tigers 2-0 on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The match was the final regular season contest of the season for the Lions.
With the match scoreless into the 12th minute of action, Fort Hays moved out to a 1-0 lead. Derick Gonzalez fired a shot into the upper-right corner of the goal from 25-yards out, his team-leading 10th score of the season.

Aleksa Nenadic would make two saves over the remainder of the first half, keeping the score at 1-0 in favor of Fort Hays. The Lions would send two shots on goal during the opening frame, but were turned away each time.
As the match entered the second half, Fort Hays continued to protect its one-goal lead with strong defensive play. Lindenwood received a few chances early in the half, but were turned away by the Tigers' goalkeeper.
Fort Hays would extend its lead to a two-goal margin in the 69th minute. Maurizio Costa was credited with the Tigers goal, his eighth score of the season.
Despite increased pressure over the final 21 minutes of action, Lindenwood was unable to cut into the Fort Hays lead, falling by the final score of 2-0.
Aleksa Nenadic made the start in goal for Lindenwood, registering five saves.
Fernando Cordero tallied a team-leading three shots. Lindenwood received five shots on goal from five different players.
In the end, Fort Hays held the edge in shots (17-13), shots on goal (7-5), and corner kicks (6-3).
Following the loss, Lindenwood moves to 13-3-2 on the season and 7-1-0 in conference play. With the victory, Fort Hays improves to 13-4-1 and 6-2-0 from within the MIAA.
Lindenwood will await the announcement of the NCAA Division II men's soccer tournament field to determine its next opponent. The tournament field will be announced as part of the men's soccer selection show on Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. CT.
