The Lindenwood wrestling team shined in its first dual match as it defeated MIAA-rival Fort Hays, 25-18, on Thursday night.
Hunter Haralson contributed mightily in his match at 133 pounds when he registered the only technical fall in 4:44 without dropping a single point to give the Lions five points.
Batchka Zulkhuu and Ronnie Gentile each registered five points for the Lions via major decisions at 174 and 149 pounds respectively. After his victory, Gentile improved his rookie season record to 6-0.
Carlos Jacquez came through for the Lions in a huge way at 125 pounds when he recorded 13 points to his opponent's six to give the Lions an extra three points.
David Hamil also contributed a decision-victory at 184 points when he defeated his opponent by a final score of 10-3.
Jake Borgmeyer competed tough at 285 pounds, but he was taken down by sudden death by a 3-1 score.
After improving to 1-0 on the year, the Lions will stay in Hays, Kan. to compete in its third tournament of the fall when they compete in the Bob Smith Open on Saturday.
