The Lindenwood women's basketball team fell 70-60 to Washburn on Saturday afternoon in Hyland Arena.
 
The Lady Lions started the game with a 4-2 lead, but a Washburn three-pointer put the Ichabods back out in front by one.

Kassidy Gengenbacher hit back-to-back shots to tie the game at 10-10 with under four minutes remaining in the first quarter.  Washburn took the lead again, but the Lady Lions continued to answer the call and tie the game at 15-15 to end the first quarter.  Lindenwood scored 10 points in the paint, and grabbed nine boards.
 
Lindenwood played great defense in the first six minutes of the second quarter as Washburn held just a two-point lead.  The Ichabods extended its lead in the remaining four minutes, while Lindenwood did not score for the final 4:43 of the first half.  Washburn held a 29-22 lead at halftime after posting 10 points in the paint, and five second-chance points in the second quarter.  The Lady Lions turned the ball over 11 times in the first half, while shooting just 1-of-7 from the three-point line and 3-of-7 from the charity stripe.
 
Gengenbacher hit a jumper just 10 seconds in, but the Ichabods nailed a three-pointer to extend its lead yet again.  With under seven minutes to go in the third quarter, the Ichabods jumped out to a double-digit lead after a bucket and the free throw.  
Kylie Ferguson hit her first three-pointer of the game and Rapp scored a bucket in the paint to cut the deficit to five points.  The Ichabods quickly got its lead back up to 10 points, but the Lady Lions continued to fight back.
 
Bri Wilber continued her tough play as she was sent to the free throw line after being fouled.  Wilber dropped both free throws to pull Lindenwood within four points.  Washburn hit a three-pointer with 30 seconds remaining, but a Rapp layup made it a five-point ball game, heading into the final quarter of play.
 
Washburn held a seven-point buffer throughout the majority of the fourth quarter, and the Lady Lions count not string points together.  Lindenwood fell 70-60 to the Ichabods, while shooting less than 30 percent from the three-point line, and just over 55 percent from the charity stripe.  The Lady Lions grabbed 38 boards as opposed to 32 for the Ichabods.  Gengenbacher led the team with 13 points, while Williams had 12 points and seven rebounds, and Rapp finished with nine points and seven boards.
 
The loss sets Lindenwood back to 7-17 on the season and 3-15 in the MIAA.  Lindenwood will travel to Hays, Kan. on Thursday to take on No. 5 Fort Hays at 5:30 p.m.
