Women's Basketball Faces Tough Road Trip

Lindenwood Notes:
-The Lady Lions will hit the road for two games this week.  Lindenwood will take on No. 10 Fort Hays State on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Hays, Kan., and then travel to Kearney, Neb. to play Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday at 2 p.m.

-Lindenwood is coming off of a 70-60 loss to Washburn on Saturday in Hyland Arena.  The Lady Lions are on a 13-game losing skid.  Lindenwood is just 1-10 on the road this season.

-The Lady Lions are shooting 43.4 percent on the season which is 43rd in the nation.  Lindenwood has compiled the 55th-best free throw percentage (73.1 percent), and hold a 33.5 three-point percentage to place it 80th in the country.

-Kassidy Gengenbacher is fourth in the MIAA and 41st in the country with an average of 18.0 points per game.  Gengenbacher is second in the conference in both three-point attempts (180), three-point makes (62), and three-point field goals per game (2.58).

-Charisse Williams is ranked fifth in the conference with 42 steals on the season.  Vanessa Zailo is fifth in the MIAA in rebounds per contest with 8.3.

-Jenny Rocha has dished out 102 assists on the year to place her 64th in the nation, and fourth in the MIAA.

-Rocha needs just one more made free throw to move up to ninth in school history for most made free throws in a career.

Thursday's Notes:
-The Lady Lions will travel to Hays, Kan. on Thursday to take on No. 10 Fort Hays State at 5:30 p.m.  Fort Hays State will enter Thursday with a 21-3 overall record, and a 15-3 record in the MIAA.

-Lindenwood fell to the Tigers earlier in the season by a final of 65-59 in Hyland Arena.  Zailo tallied a double-double with her 13 points and 11 rebounds.  Gengenbacher scored 13 points, and Rocha posted 12 points.  Rocha added three assists and five rebounds, while Gengenbacher grabbed three steals.

-The Lady Lions outscored the Tigers 36-16 in the paint, and Lindenwood scored 10 second-chance points to just six for Fort Hays State.

-Lindenwood shot 40 percent from the field, but a 16.7 percent day from behind the arc, with a free throw percentage of 60 percent, and 20 turnovers proved to be too much of an uphill battle against then No. 3 Fort Hays.

Fort Hays State Notes:
-The Tigers are coached by Tony Hobson who is in his eighth season as head coach of the women's program.  To date, Hobson has compiled a 153-74 record at Fort Hays, and is 566-180 in his 24th season as a head ball coach.

-Fort Hays is led by Chelsea Mason, Jill Faxon, and Beth Bohuslavsky.  Mason is averaging 13.1 points per game with 4.8 rebounds per game.

-Faxon is shooting 41 percent from the field for an average of 12.4 points per game with a team-high 5.5 rebounds per contest.  Faxon is also shooting 36.2 percent from three-point range, which is third-best on the team.

-Bohuslavsky posts 11.3 points per game with a three-point percentage of 39 percent.  Bohuslavsky dishes out 3.1 assists per game and has compiled 39 steals on the season.

Saturday's Notes:
-Nebraska-Kearney currently holds an even 12-12 record overall, with an 8-10 record in the conference.  The Lopers will host Lincoln on Thursday prior to their game with the Lady Lions on Saturday.

-Lindenwood could not keep up with the three-point shooting by the Lopers as the Lady Lions fell 72-67 back in early-January.  Nebraska-Kearney shot a stellar 10-of-17 from behind the arc, including 7-of-9 three-point shooting by Laramey Becker alone.

-Gengenbacher compiled 21 points on 7-of-17 shooting, with six rebounds, and three steals.  Rocha dropped 13 points, while shooting 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.  The Lady Lions shot 45.8 percent for the game, but they committed 22 turnovers to allow the Lopers to score 20 points.

Nebraska-Kearney Notes:
-The Lopers are coached by Carrie Hofstetter who is in her first season as head coach of the Lopers.  Hofstetter has a career record of 80-43, as she coached three seasons at Hastings College before arriving at Nebraska-Kearney in March of 2015.

-Nebraska-Kearney is led by Laramey Becker and McKenzie Brown.  Becker is averaging 16.6 points per game with a 5.6 rebounding average.  Brown is compiling 9.8 points per game with a 2.9 rebounding average.

-The Lopers have offensive production from Alexa Hogberg who has dished out 102 assists this season.  Becker is leading her squad with 48 steals on the season.

-Three Nebraska-Kearney players are shooting higher than 80 percent from the free throw line, and four players are shooting over 45 percent from the field.
