The Lindenwood baseball team upset No. 10 Missouri Southern on Friday afternoon by a 16-2 final in Joplin, Mo.

Connor Law set the tone for the game by striking out three Missouri Southern batters to start the first inning. In the second inning, the Lions turned a double play, and Law tallied his fourth strikeout to end the second frame. With the defensive power, the offense kicked it into gear with a two-run home run by
Nathan Prindle, to give Lindenwood a 2-0 lead.Â
Mike Ehrhard flexed his power with a two-run home of his own to double the Lindenwood lead to 4-0 after the third inning.

Law tallied his fifth and sixth strikeouts of the game in the bottom of the third, but surrender a solo blast to cut the Lindenwood lead to just 4-1.Â
Bobby Lang got the run back with a double to left center that drove in
Ryan Sosnowski to boost the lead back to four. Law continued to be dominant into the fifth, as he struck out two batters to total eight strikeouts after four innings pitched. With two outs in the top of the fifth,
Drew Quinones added another run for the Lions with a solo shot to right center to make it a 6-1 ballgame.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Law pitched another shutout inning, including his ninth strikeout to keep the Lions in front by five. Zach Perkins started a wild top of the sixth with a two run single to center to put Lindenwood in the lead 8-1. Quinones drove in more runs, this time on a double to left center that swept the bases clean for three RBI. Ehrhard rewarded Quinones with an RBI single to center, allowing Quinones to cross the plate. The big inning was capped off with a three-run shot to center field, giving Lindenwood a 15-1 lead after five innings of play.

Missouri Southern added a run in the bottom of the sixth, while the Lions scored in the final inning of play to complete the 16-2 win over No. 10 Missouri Southern. Law finished his day with nine strikeouts in five innings. Quinones led the team with four hits and four RBI, while four Lindenwood Lions had a home run.

With the win, Lindenwood improves to 6-2 on the year and 1-0 in the MIAA. The loss was the first one of the year for Missouri Southern, as it is now 8-1 on the season. The Lions will continue their series with Missouri Southern on Saturday for a 1 p.m. first pitch in Joplin, Mo.
