Men's Basketball Looks For Fourth Straight Road Win At Missouri Western

Thursday's Game At A Glance
• Lindenwood travels to Missouri Western on Thursday evening for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Griffons. The Lions are looking to set a program record by winning their fourth straight MIAA road game.

• The Lions enter play this week with a 15-6 overall record and an 11-4 MIAA mark. Lindenwood is in second place in the MIAA, one game behind Northwest Missouri, who the Lions play on Saturday afternoon.

• Missouri Western is currently 6-15 overall and 4-11 in the MIAA. The Griffons, who have lost three straight games, are one game out of the final spot in the MIAA Tournament.

• Earlier this season, Lindenwood defeated the Griffons by a 76-62 score in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions trailed 35-31 four minutes into the second half, but they outscored Missouri Western by 18 the rest of the way.

• Lindenwood is 5-1 all-time against Missouri Western, including a 2-1 record in St. Joseph, Mo. Last year on the road, the Lions fell by a 67-58 score to the Griffons.

Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood has 11 MIAA wins this season, one away from its school record of 12. The Lions won 12 conference contests in their inaugural season in 2012-13, and also hit that mark in the 2014-15 season.

• Lindenwood leads the MIAA in scoring defense (63.9), field-goal percentage defense (.389), and blocks (5.3). It is fifth in NCAA Division II in scoring defense, fifth in field-goal percentage defense, and seventh in blocks.

• Lindenwood's defense has held 14 straight opponents to 70 points or less, and 18 of its 21 opponents this season have not surpassed that mark.

• Lindenwood is 10-1 this season when scoring 70 or more points, including a 6-0 mark in MIAA games.

• The Lions tied a school record against Central Oklahoma by blocking 11 shots. Lindenwood also blocked 11 shots earlier this year against Northwest Missouri.

• In their current three-game road winning streak, the Lions are making 50.4 percent of their shots from the field. On defense, they are holding the three opponents to 35.4 percent shooting from the field and 24.1 percent from three-point range.

• Cory Arentsen was named the MIAA Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 26.0 points a game and shooting over 50 percent from the field against Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma.

• Cory Arentsen has scored over 20 points in five straight games, and he has hit that mark in 15 of 21 games in 2015-16.

• Four different Lions have recorded double-figure rebounds in a game this season, and individuals have 16 games with 10 or more rebounds. Stanislas Heili leads the squad with nine double-figure rebounding games.

• Brad Newman scored 38 points in the Oklahoma swing last week, including a season-high 20 against Central Oklahoma. Sixteen of those points came from the free-throw line.

• Stanislas Heili set Lindenwood's single-season blocking record last week against Northeastern State and now has 57 on the year. He has blocked at least one shot in every game this year.

• Lindenwood is ranked fifth in the region this week according to the D2SIDA poll. The official NCAA regional polls, which decides the NCAA Tournament field, will begin in mid-February.

A Look At Missouri Western
• Missouri Western is averaging 71.5 points a game, while allowing 76.6 points a contest.

• Missouri Western's Trey Sampson is in a battle with Lindenwood's Cory Arentsen for the MIAA free-throw percentage lead. Sampson is currently shooting 89.3 percent.

• Trey Sampson leads the team with 12.6 points a game, and has made a team-high 47 three-pointers. Aaron Emmanuel is also averaging double-figures in points, and he leads the team with 75 assists.

• Defensively, Kevin Thomas leads the team with 5.8 rebounds a game and he has 17 blocked shots. Cole Clearman leads the Griffons with 22 steals.
