Baseball Wins 13-8 Over Harris Stowe

The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Harris Stowe State 13-8 on Saturday afternoon at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Lindenwood jumped out to an early lead with a run scored by Nathan Prindle on a wild pitch in the first inning.  Prindle was hit by a pitch in the second inning with bases loaded to tally an RBI, and Drew Quinones hit a ball to deep left field to bring in two runs to extend the Lindenwood lead to 4-0.  Harris Stowe scored two runs in the top of the third inning to cut the Lindenwood lead to 4-2.  Connor Law tossed five innings allowing just one run on three hits with two strikeouts.

Lindenwood was held scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Ryan Sosnowski scored on a balk with two outs.  Prindle drove in Wes Degener on a single and Degener scored on a Quinones double to left center to give Lindenwood a 7-2 lead after five innings.  The Lions tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but a big top of the eighth by the Hornets closed the gap to 9-7.

Lindenwood scored more runs in the bottom of the eight to extend its lead.  Rayce Singbush hit a triple to bring in Lucas Tibbs, and Zac Perkins scored on a Prindle single.  Quinones drove in two runs on his triple to left center to give Lindenwood a 13-7 lead heading into the top of the ninth.

The Lions allowed one run in the final inning, but held on for a 13-8 victory over Harris Stowe.  Prindle led the team with two hits and three runs scored, while driving in three RBI.  Quinones had a team-high four RBI on two hits.  Degener scored four runs, which helped Law get this first win of the year.

Lindenwood improves to 2-0 on the year after the two-game home stand.  The Lions will head to Memphis, Tenn. to take on Christian Brothers in a two-game series on February 16th.
