No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Powers Past No. 15 Seton Hill

The No. 3 ranked Lindenwood women's lacrosse team defeated the No. 15 ranked Seton Hill Griffins by a score of 11-6 on Friday afternoon from Dick's Sporting Goods Field in Greensburg, Pa.
 
The Lady Lions would strike first, scoring the games opening goal 4:34 into the first half of play. Morgan Judd tallied the Lindenwood goal, her ninth score of the season. Judd's goal helped extend her streak of consecutive games with a goal to six. The Lady Lions would extend their lead to 2-0 at the 23:51 mark of the period, as Allison Hurley recorded her 10th goal of the season. Like Judd, Hurley also extended her personal streak of consecutive games with a goal to six. With 20:17 showing on the clock, the Griffins cut into the Lindenwood with a free position goal from Mackenzie Kilduff. Seton Hill would even the score at 2-2 late in the first half, as Alexis Petrarca assisted Renee Kania. Lindenwood would outshoot Seton Hill 13-9 during the opening 30 minutes, which came to a close with both teams deadlocked, 2-2.
 
Early on in the second half, Sophie Buelow capitalized on a free position attempt to give the Lady Lions a 3-2 lead. The free position goal was the team-leading third of the season for Buelow. Judd and Hannah Doughty would follow Buelow's goal with scores of their own, helping the Lady Lions extend their lead to 5-2. Judd's goal went unassisted, while Buelow was credited with the helper on Doughty's goal. With 18:36 remaining in the game, Judd tallied her third goal of the afternoon, growing the Lindenwood lead to 6-2. The hat trick represented the 10th career game of three or more goals for Judd. Lindenwood would score five more times during the final 17:49 of play, including three goals from Hurley and two from Judd. Seton Hill added four goals during the second half, ultimately falling by a final score of 11-6.
 
Judd tied a career-high with five goals during the game, while Hurley also equaled a career-high with her four goals. In the cage for Lindenwood, Delaney Solomon made her third start of the season. Solomon turned in five saves during the first half, before being relieved by Rachel Ortell in the second half. Ortell made two saves over the final 30 minutes, earning her fourth victory of the season. Defensively for the Lady Lions, Molly Beckham and Savannah Phillips would lead the team with two caused turnovers apiece. Erin Abbott paced the team with four secured draw controls. Lindenwood held the edge in shots, 29-17.
 
Following the non-conference victory, the Lady Lions improve their season record to 6-0. With the loss, Seton Hill moves its season record to 1-3. Lindenwood will return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET, with a non-conference matchup versus IUP at Miller Stadium in Indiana, Pa.
