Both Lindenwood tennis teams competed in Oklahoma on Thursday afternoon, but they faced different opponents. The men took on No. 39-ranked East Central while the women battled against MIAA-rival, Northeastern State. The men were swept 9-0 while the women managed to lure in two matches due to forfeits at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
On the men's side,
Naoufal El Idrissi played a tough two-setter, but fell by a final score of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Slobodan Bavrlic took his opponent to 5-5 in the second set, but lost 6-2, 7-5 at No. 6.
Filip Bogic's eight-match winning streak came to an end after falling 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1. After the team loss, the Lions hold a record of 5-7 on the season as they will take on Oklahoma Baptist on Friday at 3 pm.
On the women's side,
Anna Barbasheva competed against the No. 39 singles player in Division II in which she had a close first set, 6-4. She lost 6-1 after that.
Clara Piccamiglio came close to winning the second set of her match at No. 3, but fell 6-1, 7-5.
The women will take their 7-5 record into Friday as they will face their second MIAA opponent in a row, Central Oklahoma, at 5 pm.
