The Lindenwood baseball team lost 3-0 to Northwest Missouri State on Sunday at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
Â
The final game of the series was well-pitched game by both teams, along with strong defense. Lindenwood starter,
Brendan Kleekamp was the losing pitcher on Sunday, but the loss was an unfortunate outcome to a great pitching performance.  Kleekamp tossed seven innings, allowed just one run on three hits, and held the Bearcats hitless until the fifth inning. The Lindenwood defense turned three double plays on the day, but offensively it left five runners on base.
Â
Drew Quinones and
Ryan Sosnowski each had two hits on the day, but the Lions struggled to get past second base. Lindenwood tallied just seven hits on the day, and hit into two double plays at key points in the ball game.
Â
Quinones and Sosnowski led the team this weekend with four hits apiece, but
Nathan Prindle was the only Lindenwood batter with an extra base hit in the series, which was a solo homerun.Â
Jevon Boyd and
Devin Breihan combined threw 4.1 innings out of the pen with four strikeouts, and just four hits allowed. Kleekamp and
Connor Law each went seven innings in their respective starts, and only allowed one earned run in their games pitched.
Â
The loss sets Lindenwood back to 7-6 on the season and 2-4 in the MIAA. Lindenwood will remain home for a Tuesday night game against Missouri S&T with a 3 p.m. first pitch at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
