The No. 3 ranked Lindenwood women's lacrosse team defeated the Fort Lewis Skyhawks 11-6 on Sunday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The game was the first RMAC contest of the season for both squads.
Fort Lewis jumped out to an early 2-0 lead over the first 9:58 of play, as Ellie Carpenter scored twice for the Skyhawks. The Lady Lions responded with a goal from
Morgan Judd with 20:02 remaining in the first half of play. For Judd the goal was her sixth of the season, while
Allison Hurley was credited with the assist. The Skyhawks would regain their two goal advantage 2:53 later, as Carpenter tallied a first half hat trick. Lindenwood would close out the remainder of the first half with three unanswered goals, as
Jenna Battaglini, Judd, and
Jordyn Constance would find the back of the net. Constance scored her goal with 19 seconds remaining in the first half, off of a nifty behind the back shot, giving the Lady Lions a 4-3 lead heading into halftime.
Fort Lewis opened the scoring during the second half, as Jam Vertner put home a pass from Sara McMahon, drawing the score even at four goals a side. Lindenwood would respond with four consecutive goals over a 2:21 stretch, expanding their lead to 8-4.

Hannah Doughty, and
Amanda Schimpke all registered goals, with Schimpke scoring twice, including the eventual game-winning goal. The Skyhawks would score twice more in the second half, while the Lady Lions would pour in three more goals, bringing the game to its final score of 11-6.
In goal for Lindenwood,
Delaney Solomon turned in a seven save performance, earning her second win of the season. The Lady Lions outshot the Skyhawks 25-17 for the game. Each team scooped up 23 groundballs, while Lindenwood secured 13 of the 19 draw controls.
With the victory, the Lady Lions improve their season record to 4-0 and 1-0 in conference play. Following the loss, the Skyhawks move their season record to 2-1 and 0-1 from within the RMAC. Lindenwood will return to action on Tuesday evening, as they welcome the Westminster Griffins to Hunter Stadium for an RMAC showdown at 7:00 p.m.
