Kleekamp Hurls One-Hitter, Lions Win

The Lindenwood baseball team defeated Lincoln 10-0 at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. on Tuesday evening.

The Lions were led by Brendan Kleekamp who threw a one-hit shutout in eight innings pitched.  Kleekamp struck out nine batters and allowed just one walk to earn his third victory of the season.  Lindenwood jumped on the board in the bottom of the second with a two-RBI single by Wes Degener that drove in Paul Sherwood and Ryan Sosnowski.  The Lions added more runs in the third on a two-RBI single by Rayce Singbush, extending the lead to 4-0.

Kleekamp surrendered his only hit of the game in the top of the fourth inning, but struck out the next two batters to end the inning.  Sosnowski drove in Drew Quinones in the fifth inning to give Lindenwood a comfortable lead.  Sosnowski opened up the seventh inning with a double, stole third, and scored on a throwing error by the catcher to start a rally.  Singbush singled and stole second before being driven in by Kyle Teter.  Jackson Fuller drove in Teter on a single to put Lindenwood up 8-0 with two innings to go.

In the eighth inning, Sosnowski was hit by a pitch to bring in a run, and Mike Ehrhard scored on a sacrifice fly by Teter to end the game 10-0.  Three Lindenwood batters scored two runs in the game, while Sosnowski led the team with three hits and two RBI.  Kleekamp earned his second-consecutive win over Lincoln this season, as he has tallied 17 innings pitched, 18 strikeouts, and just five hits allowed in two games.

Lindenwood improves to 17-22 on the season and 11-18 in the MIAA.  The Lions will hit the road on Wednesday to take on Missouri S&T at 2 p.m. in Rolla, Mo.
